Midwest Video Solutions has selected Motorola's MPEG-4 Network Encoder for deployment by the end of the year. This upgrade to the Motorola multi-channel MPEG-4 AVC network encoder family will enable MVS to migrate two diverse MPEG-2 headend platforms at separate locations to a single consolidated MPEG-4 platform, streamlining the delivery of content while accelerating the delivery of personalized media experiences and increasing programming choice for customers.

MTS Allstream has selected Harmonic’s MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) HD and SD video processing solutions for an IPTV service expansion. The upgrade will enable MTS Allstream to deliver equivalent MPEG-2 quality at half the bandwidth and a broader HD and SD channel line-up to its customers in Manitoba, Canada, further enhancing MTS Allstream’s advanced and differentiated multi-service offering.

AT&T has completed its AT&T U-verse Total Home DVR rollout, well ahead of schedule. Customers in every market where U-verse services are available now have access to Total Home DVR, which gives U-verse TV customers the freedom to play back SD and HD recorded programs from a single DVR on any connected TV in the home, at no additional charge. Total Home DVR is unmatched by any cable provider and has met positive response from customers since being introduced in September.

Completing the rollout, ten new areas launched Total Home DVR today: Bakersfield, Dayton, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Miami, South Bend, Tulsa, West Palm Beach and Wichita.

JDSU has been selected by LG Dacom to support LG Dacom's deployment of IPTV services nationwide. After a series of thorough benchmarking tests and evaluation by independent external experts, JDSU was selected based on the performance of its NetComplete IPTV solution, a combination of the QT-600 Ethernet triple-play probe, NetAnalyst and NetOptimize software, as well as the Clarity video portal. NetComplete was also graded highly for its end-to-end monitoring and success with other large IPTV deployments, including recently announced Deutsch Telekom.

SaskTel International and Mariner partner to address the growth and maturation of the global IPTV marketplace. According to recent research by Infonetics, global IPTV subscribers are forecasted to continue to grow to 72 million by 2011, despite the concerns over the current economic situation. Infonetics expects service providers to continue heavy investment in IPTV content and transport equipment as investment shifts from Ethernet routers and switches to content infrastructure, such as video on demand servers.

RGB Networks and TANDBERG Television are demonstrating their advanced integrated ad insertion solution for telecom carriers, which enables them to earn additional advertising revenue by inserting local ads into MPEG-4 AVC HD programming. Calix will demonstrate advanced new IPTV and video service quality management solutions, including the latest Microsoft Mediaroom features, across the Calix Unified Access Infrastructure at TelcoTV 2008 (booth #501).
