Alcatel and Sistema, the largest private sector consumer services company in Russia and the CIS, and an active player in the Russian telecommunications market, today announced completion of a project to deploy a platform for the delivery of advanced multimedia services to Sistema's residential customers.

Under the terms of the contract signed in September 2004, Alcatel delivered to Sistema Multi Media (Sistema's media arm) a fully integrated end-to-end video solution for the delivery of rich media in a triple play service mix (voice, data, and video). Alcatel today announced it has been selected by SaskTel, one of Canada's most progressive full service communications companies, to upgrade its network with Alcatel's next generation IP solutions. This contract enables SaskTel to efficiently deliver the latest multimedia broadband services over a converged packet infrastructure to its customers in Saskatchewan, and to extend those services cost-effectively to remote communities in this western province.

Broadstream Communications, Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) announced the industry's first transport distribution deals targeting small operators in the telecom industry.

Under the terms of the agreement, Broadstream will be the first authorized transporter to offer TBS, Inc.'s entire line-up of linear programming to telecom service providers throughout the United States. The Turner networks carried by Broadstream will include Boomerang, Cartoon Network (East and West Feeds), CNN, CNN en Espanol, CNN International, Headline News, TBS (East and West feeds), TNT (East and West feeds), Turner Classic Movies, and Turner South.

Alcatel announced the launch of its IPTV Solution Center for the Asia Pacific region in Shanghai, China. Managed by a dedicated team of IPTV experts, the center also brings first-hand triple play (voice, data and multimedia service bundle) experience to Alcatel's telecom operator customers. The Center is managed by, and located inside the premises of, Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel's flagship company in China.

Amino Communications, a leading IPTV (telco triple-play applications) equipment supplier and ReadyLinks Incorporated, a Minneapolis-based broadband solutions company, announced that they have developed a new HPNA V3 adapter called the ReadyLinks SmartFoot ^TM Adapter. The adapter is directly compatible with Amino set-top box products, and uses existing coax or telephone wiring within the home to transport IPTV data - eliminating the need for rewiring costs, and enabling the easy installation of multiple set-top boxes. The adapter is manufactured by Readylinks and will be jointly marketed by Amino and Readylinks under Amino’s SmartFoot ^TM trademark.
