SBC Communications Inc. announced that it has awarded a multi-million dollar, multi-year contract to Amdocs to support Project Lightspeed, the SBC initiative to expand fiber optics deeper into neighborhoods to deliver Internet Protocol or IP-based TV, voice and broadband services.

ANT plc, a leading provider of embedded browser, content control and user interface software for IPTV and consumer electronics, announced today that Askey Computer Corporation and Alpha Networks, both of Taiwan, have licensed ANT's Fresco ® browser and PurePlay ^TM digital media manager technology for integration into IPTV set-top boxes (STBs) targeted to operators in the United States, Europe, China, Japan and Taiwan.

Broadstream Communications, Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) announced the industry's first transport distribution deals targeting small operators in the telecom industry.

Under the terms of the agreement, Broadstream will be the first authorized transporter to offer TBS, Inc.'s entire line-up of linear programming to telecom service providers throughout the United States. The Turner networks carried by Broadstream will include Boomerang, Cartoon Network (East and West Feeds), CNN, CNN en Espanol, CNN International, Headline News, TBS (East and West feeds), TNT (East and West feeds), Turner Classic Movies, and Turner South.

TANDBERG Television announced that it has delivered a complete IPTV video head-end to global communications company Atlas Interactive, a part of the Atlas Group, for a large scale multimedia broadband deployment over the Indian telephone network. TANDBERG Television has provided a range of solutions to enable the delivery of broadcast quality television and video on-demand services over IP. The Atlas netTV project will launch services to an initial 50,000 subscribers in the National Capital Region of Delhi in 2005.

mPhase Technologies announced that it has reached an agreement with Espial® to embed Espial Evo ^TM as part of its leading-edge Internet Protocol television (IPTV) service creation platform and applications. This platform will enable telephone companies to offer a suite of As You Like It ^TM broadcast TV, Video on Demand (VOD) and enhanced broadband consumer services. Espial is a leading provider of client applications, middleware and enabling technologies for the IPTV market.

Gaming- on-Demand (GoD) technology vendor G-cluster, service provider Club iT, and Texas Instruments announced that IP-based set-top box manufacturers can now easily turn their products into genuine gaming consoles, using the G-cluster Gaming-on-Demand client to provide end users with access to hundreds of games over IPTV.

The set-top box will connect to G-cluster's grid of computer servers via a broadband connection, receiving game graphics and sound to display on a television screen in real time. USB-based gamepads or remote controls can be used by subscribers to play a wide variety of games.

TANDBERG Television announced that it has extended its integration collaboration with Microsoft to offer broadband network operators a complete suite of TANDBERG advanced encoding solutions for both Windows Media Video 9 (Microsoft's implementation of VC-1, the proposed SMPTE standard) and MPEG-4 AVC, fully integrated with the Microsoft TV IPTV Edition software platform. The move enables broadband operators to offer competitive IP-based digital television services with live, broadcast television programming at half the bit-rates required for MPEG-2, while maintaining the same picture quality.

Minerva® Networks announced that in the first quarter of 2005 seven new independent telephone companies serving more than 20 communities in the U.S. have selected its IPTV platform to deliver television services to their subscribers. Each of these companies will be able to offer robust video services, including live TV, pay-per-view (PPV), video-on-demand (VOD), subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), personal video recorder (PVR), and caller-ID.
