Orbit E-Commerce Inc. (OECI), and its major shareholder, PureNet.Tv Canada Inc. announced yesterday that the system design has been completed and equipment required to deploy the Company's first IPTV facility in China is now being assembled and tested in Toronto.

Over the past three years, OECI and PureNet have worked closely with Zhone, Tandberg Television, Foundry Networks, and Redback Networks to develop a digital IPTV network capable of serving millions of subscribers.

The final testing of the digital system in the coming weeks will take place in Toronto where the Company and its vendors will have assembled a working IPTV head-end. The replica of the IPTV head-end will be delivered to China where the Company will commence offering digital video IP services.

PCCW announced that now TV has won the exclusive Hong Kong rights to broadcast Europe's most important footballing event - UEFA EURO 2008.

This major football tournament will take place in June 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, with sixteen prominent European national teams participating in 31 matches. PCCW will broadcast the exciting UEFA EURO 2008 matches through multiple platforms. PCCW has exclusive television broadcasting and VOD (Video-on-demand) rights, internet simulcast and mobile video rights.

Alcatel-Lucent (see their newly branded logo to right) has been selected by Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) for its IPTV trial, which began in October 2006. Based on a combination of Alcatel-Lucent's services integration solution and Microsoft TV IPTV Edition software platform, the project will include broadcast TV and video on demand, with content featuring HD-quality picture resolution.

Juniper Networks, Inc. announced that Chongqing Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom and one of China's largest telecommunications service providers, has deployed Juniper Networks E320 Broadband Service Routers to cost-effectively address growing demand for high-speed Internet, IP television (IPTV), video on demand and other advanced IP services to their extensive customer base. With the ability to efficiently support large numbers of high-bandwidth subscribers on a single platform, the E320 enables Chongqing to introduce innovative new services while keeping costs per subscriber low.

Redback Networks Inc. has won the second phase of a broadband network upgrade with largest provincial carrier in China. Guangdong Telecom will use Redback's SmartEdge family of multi-service edge routers to deliver broadband internet, IPTV and virtual private network (VPN) services for up to four million homes and businesses.

Taiwan's state-owned Chunghwa Telecom has purchased an additional 300,000 Virtual SmartCard clients from Widevine Technologies to secure premium linear broadcast and video-on-demand delivery across a wide range of consumer electronics devices. This is in addition to the 500,000 clients Chunghwa purchased in 2005 for planned subscriber growth.

Zhejiang Telecom, China Telecom's largest subsidiary, has deployed Juniper Networks E320 Broadband Service Routers and T-series core routers to introduce new advanced IP television (IPTV) and other multiplay services. Zhejiang will be using the unique MPLS-based Point-to-Multipoint (P2MP) capabilities on the T-series, which dramatically improves the efficiency of video distribution in the core network, reducing network congestion and the associated costs. Both the E- and T-series are critical components of Zhejiang's long-term IPTV strategy.

Optibase Ltd. has been awarded an additional contract by FPT Telecom, a leading multimedia and Internet service provider in Vietnam.

Extending the original IPTV solution that Optibase provided FPT last year, Optibase is now expanding its initial IPTV offering with a series of Optibase streaming platforms.

Jiangsu Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom, has deployed Juniper Networks's E320 Broadband Service Routers to expand network edge capacity and meet subscriber demand for IPTV, video on demand and other advanced IP services. Jiangsu Telecom selected the E320 because it will enable Jiangsu to cost-effectively support more subscribers and introduce new services on its broadband network. The new E320 routers join the service provider's existing installed base of Juniper Networks E-series routers.

Optibase, Ltd. and Time Broadband Services Pvt. Ltd., announced that they are expanding their IPTV solution to India's state-owned major telecom service provider, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL).

India's Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) rolled out it's IPTV service in Mumbai on Saturday marking the first IPTV deployment in India. The commerical launch of the service will be available to MTNL subscribers on October 21st and MTNL will be launching IPTV service in Delhi on the 17th.

The new service will offer telephone service, IPTV, and Internet through a "Tri-Band" plan, as they call it. The IPTV service will have around 25 channels at INR 199 ($4.40 or €3.50) per month and MTNL looks to expand the number of channels to 200-250 at a later stage.

The set-top-box required for the service will cost INR 6,000 ($132 or €105).

Shanghai Telecom will use new metro networking technology from Nortel to provide high-bandwidth, business-critical voice, data and video applications to its customers in Shanghai, China's largest city and major economic center.

Nortel's Metro Ethernet Networking solution will position Shanghai Telecom to reliably and cost-effectively offer premium network services such as next-generation network voice services, Ethernet VPN-based business continuity services and potential IPTV services to its enterprise customers and individual end users.

NTT Cyber Communications Laboratory Group and EXPWAY, have announced that Plala Networks Inc., a pioneer IPTV service provider in Japan, has deployed its 4th MEDIA IPTV service using a technology jointly developed by NTT Cyber Labs and EXPWAY for its Electronic Program Guide (EPG).
