The deployment of the NSG 9000 also provides Armstrong with the highest level of security, as well as the capacity to increase its HD channel offerings in the future.

AT&T launches AT&T U-verse Mobile for several Android devices, including the Samsung Captivate, HTC Aria, and coming soon, the Motorola BRAVO and Motorola FLIPSIDE. U-verse Mobile is available today for AT&T Mobility customers on Android Market, and is another example of how AT&T is delivering more TV content to customers across multiple devices and platforms.

With the Android device launches, U-verse Mobile is available on four mobile operating systems and will continue to expand to more devices in the future. Netflix has selected Dolby Digital Plus to deliver 5.1-channel surround sound for TV shows and movies streamed instantly over the Internet. Beginning October 18, the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system from Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. will be the first consumer electronics device to support 5.1-channel surround sound on movies streamed from Netflix. Netflix said more devices would be added over time to support streaming digital surround sound.

The National Basketball Association and NeuLion announce they are teaming to enhance NBA LEAGUE PASS International, the most far-reaching live game subscription service in professional sports, for the 2010-11 NBA season.

Tilgin announces an initial order from a large systems integrator in South Eastern Europe. The order is for a new Tilgin customer, a leading operator in the region. The operator will deploy a national Fiber access network of remotely managed IP-based services.

The operator and Tilgin’s systems integrator partner will deploy Tilgin's Home Gateway solutions for fiber connectivity and Tilgin's VCM software for service and device management, starting late 2010. AT&T U-verse IPTV platform is quickly making content and features available across more screens and devices, and today announced two innovative ways to watch hit TV shows. AT&T and Microsoft announce the Oct. 15 launch of U-verse TV on Xbox 360 for U-verse customers, which lets you enjoy the U-verse TV experience on your existing Xbox 360 device, replacing the need for an extra receiver in your home. AT&T is the first TV provider in the U.S. to offer live TV service through an Xbox 360.

AT&T also announced the upcoming launch of U-verse Mobile for Windows Phone 7 devices. Beginning in November, the popular U-verse Mobile app will be preloaded so that any AT&T wireless customer with a Windows Phone 7 device — whether or not they are a U-verse TV customer — can download and watch hit TV shows while they're on the go. This is the first time an AT&T U-verse service will be available nationwide.

The worldwide market for digital set-top boxes - including hard-to-track free-to-air satellite boxes - will grow from 205 million in 2010 to 226 million in 2015. Shipments in North America and Western Europe are falling following largely successful digital transitions, while Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Eastern Europe all see significant growth. Set-top boxes in China will grow at nearly 10% per year.

“Cable boxes decline in the short term due to cable’s failure to compete in the North American markets; however they grow in the long term due to significant numbers of new subscribers in China and, to a lesser extent, India,” says ABI Research senior analyst Sam Rosen. “Digital terrestrial boxes see the largest platform growth worldwide as countries in Asia-Pacific and Latin America move through their digital transitions and toward analog shutoff of broadcasts.”
