Tut Systems Inc., an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, today announced that the company recently won a competitive IPTV video shootout in a real-world headend environment at Manti Telephone in Manti, Utah.

After determining that the Astria content processor (CP) provided superior video quality and scalability for processing real-time video off of satellite and off-air feeds, Manti Telephone placed an order to upgrade its ATM-based headend to IP. As part of the upgrade, Manti will deliver video services to its ATM and IP customers and expand the number of channels delivered to its existing base of TV customers to 133 video and audio channels. Manti Telephone was one of the first telephone companies in the world to deliver video services over copper wires when it first deployed video in 2000.

Optical Solutions Inc. announced that the City of Burlington, Vermont (pop. 39,000) is deploying a municipal FTTH network using Optical Solutions' FiberPath 500 GPON (gigabit passive optical network) access platform. The next-generation network will pass nearly 20,000 premises, giving both residents and business owners the opportunity to receive virtually unlimited data speed service, carrier-class quality voice, and next-generation IPTV video.

SkyStream announced that Heartland Communications has selected SkyStream's Mediaplex-20 digital headend to provide IPTV services to its subscribers throughout Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Calix announced that Canby Telephone Association (CTA), a telephone cooperative based in Oregon, has completed extensive IPTV field trials and has now moved into full production. The Calix C7 enables CTA to deliver 150 channels of broadcast video entertainment, along with local and long-distance voice and high-speed Internet access. Canby Telephone now offers a triple play bundle (telephone, television, and Internet) that the local cable competitor is unable to match. Furthermore, by integrating features such as caller ID displayed on the television and video on demand, CTA offers a fundamentally more compelling entertainment service.

Dedicated to enabling even the smallest and remotest of telephone companies (telcos) to offer the triple play of video, voice and broadband, SES AMERICOM, an SES GLOBAL company announced the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) has signed a multi-year agreement to offer IPTV services to nearly one thousand independent and local telcos over SES AMERICOM's IP-PRIME distribution platform.

ECI Telecom announced that Ringgold Telephone Company (RTC), a local exchange service provider in Georgia, USA, has selected ECI Telecom's ST-200 multiservice edge router to support its interactive entertainment and IPTV video services over DSL. Amino announced that it has enabled leading independent telecommunications holding company SureWest Communications as it prepares to become the first US broadband service provider to offer high-definition (HD) television services over IP. Through its current beta testing phase, SureWest has already rolled out Amino's AmiNET120 HD set-top box to a core group of subscribers in the Sacramento, California region. WealthTV, the premier lifestyle and entertainment network in high definition, today announced that it has signed a long term affiliation agreement with Optical Entertainment Network for the roll out of WealthTV in digital and high definition on OEN's FISIONT fiber-to-the-home IPTV service. OEN's FISION service, scheduled to launch within the next 60 days, will be provided to 1.6 million households in Houston, Texas, the 10th largest Television market in the US.
