Dailymotion launches its new localized Canadian site, located at www.dailymotion.com/ca-fr or www.dailymotion.com/ca-en. Dailymotion's Canadian launch will further extend the site's reach in a key North American market. Building on several key international launches this year, the expansion also brings the number of international editorialized homepages to sixteen.

The National Hockey League unveils the new NHL.com, a completely re-designed and re-programmed media portal that gives fans everywhere a personalized, all-access pass to their favorite NHL team and players. AT&T Launches U-verse Total Home DVR in the Los Angeles, St. Louis and Fresno areas, giving U-verse TV customers the freedom to play back SD and HD recorded programs on any connected TV in the home, at no additional charge.

AT&T U-verse Total Home DVR customers can:

• Watch HD and SD DVR recordings on other connected TVs in the home. In addition to your DVR, you can access, play, pause, rewind and fast forward any recorded SD or HD program on up to seven additional U-verse-connected TVs. All U-verse DVRs and receivers are HD-capable.
• Pause a recorded show and pick up where you left off in another room.

PeerApp adds six new ISP customers in China, Brazil, Central America and the Middle East. Faced with the rapidly increasing levels of video traffic, these ISPs selected PeerApp’s UltraBand products to manage P2P and HTTP application traffic growth, reduce network infrastructure and bandwidth costs, and deliver a great consumer experience. UltraBand systems are now producing these benefits for 50 ISP networks in more than 25 countries.

One of PeerApp’s newest customers, Guangzhou Radio and Television, is a cable operator serving more than 600,000 broadband subscribers in China’s Guangzhou Province. As a leader in the fastest-growing broadband market in the world, GZ CATV has experienced a rapid increase of P2P and HTTP-based video streaming traffic.

Verizon FiOS TV is now even better for customers in Maryland and northern Virginia as the company is launching 39 new channels, including 19 additional HD channels. FiOS TV customers in the area now have more than 540 HD choices available at any time, with at least 49 HD channels and more than 500 HD VOD titles offered each month.

As a result of this enhancement to the FiOS TV lineup, Verizon is now offering consumers here more HD than both Comcast and Cox offer. Verizon will continue expanding its FiOS TV channel lineup this year, with a major focus on HD content. By year-end, Verizon plans to offer all available major HD programming.

Akamai is powering Metacafe. Late last year, Metacafe implemented a combination of Akamai’s media delivery and rich media site acceleration solutions to optimize the delivery of rich, heavy web pages, videos and dynamic content, in turn creating a 30 percent improvement in video start time. This improvement has contributed to significant growth in both page views and video views on Metacafe, up 44 and 53 percent respectively between January and July 2008.

Adap.tv has secured $13M in Series B venture funding. Led by Spark Capital, the Series B round also includes existing investors Redpoint Venture and Gemini Israel Fund. As part of the investment, Spark Capital General Partner Dennis Miller will join the Adap.tv board of directors. Adap.tv will use the financing to accelerate the development of its flagship offering Adap.tv OneSource and its adoption by video publishers and online ad networks.

Truveo’s video search engine provides the most comprehensive results of any major search engine online, according to an extensive study conducted by the search engine team. The study, conducted in August, looked at how well Truveo, Blinkx, Google Video, Microsoft Live Video Search and Yahoo! Video Search covered the top 100 Alexa-rated news, sports, TV, music and movie sites that have video content. The study showed that Truveo covered 86 of those sites; Blinkx covered 20; Microsoft Live Video Search covered 17; Google Video covered three and Yahoo! Video Search covered two.

Mixpo and Comcast Spotlight agree to enable clients’ to turn existing on-air video advertising assets into online video advertising units, using Mixpo’s patent-pending platform. Now, local advertising clients in Comcast Cable markets across the country can take advantage of Comcast’s online advertising opportunities, including placement of online video ads in standard display ad areas on Comcast.net, a top U.S. Website and the portal for more than 14.6 million High-Speed Internet subscribers, or Vehix.com, a leading automotive portal owned by Comcast.

Tilgin and Nordija announce their collaboration to provide a HD IPTV solution to the Danish leading utility company TRE-FOR with reference to Tilgin’s earlier announcement in August on an IPTV order from an influential Danish utility company.

Together Tilgin and Nordija will provide a unique IPTV solution to their joint customer TRE-FOR, who has decided to deliver HD IPTV to its subscriber base. Nordija has been contracted by the Danish operator’s broadband subsidiary to provide IPTV middleware with additional adaptation to their requirements based on their choice of Tilgin’s IP Set-top media center. Tilgin will provide its HD IPTV set-top solution, including its IPTV server software for large-scale IP networks, named MBS.

Hotwire Communications has selected Motorola’s fiber-to-the-home, MPEG-4 HD encoder and IP set-top solutions for the delivery of both residential and commercial broadband services. Specializing in multi-family communities, Hotwire Communications is the latest in a series of ultra-broadband network and FTTH wins for Motorola that range from tier-one deployments to smaller telecom and cable operator rollouts.

The new FTTH deployments using gigabit passive optical networking technology will enable Hotwire to significantly expand its service tiers with more HD and VOD content as well as Internet speeds ranging up to 100+ Mbps. Hotwire will deploy the field-proven Motorola AXS2200 optical line terminal and Motorola ONT1400GT optical network terminal throughout its customer footprint.

Hughes European operating unit has launched an expanded portfolio of HughesNet enterprise offerings based on Hughes’ recently-acquired Helius Business IPTV solutions. The expanded portfolio includes comprehensive digital signage and on-line training applications, which are imperative for today’s enterprises of any size to drive sales and improve customer loyalty.

Husky Media launched its latest version, Husky 2.0: a faster, easier and completely restructured version of the Husky Media technology.

Husky 2.0’s new features include:

• Husky Help Mode – Husky’s most ambitious new feature is “Help Mode,” which alerts publishers when there is an error on their page, displaying a message containing the solution.
• Husky In-Page – The Husky “In-Page” allows publishers to show Husky ads inside their pages, as opposed to inside a light-box. This new layout presents publishers with the least-intrusive advertisements possible.
• Husky Fixed Window – Husky has added a “Fixed Window” mode, which is similar to the light-box except for two things: the screen behind the ads is no longer grayed so users can still see what else is on the page, and Husky ads can now stay in the same spot, allowing users to scroll down and see other content further down the page.
