Harmonic's Rhozet media transcoding technology has been selected by ITN. Rhozet Carbon Coder is being used by ITN for the transcoding and packaging of news and other multiplatform content to a wide range of customers around the globe.

ITN delivers broadband content through a wide variety of outlets, including Vodafone, MSN, Yahoo!, Orange, T-Mobile, Mirror Group, Virgin Media, Telegraph Group, YouTube and Bebo, and its own online newsroom. The increasing amount of content to be distributed to a growing number of destinations prompted ITN to select Rhozet Carbon Coder, a comprehensive media transcoding solution that provides a high level of performance, control and scalability. Rhozet Carbon Coder, deployed in a multi-node “farm” configuration and working in conjunction with ITN’s in-house NeMeSys content management system, allows ITN to rapidly deliver nearly 1000 video clips each day to its mobile, broadband, IPTV and commercial archive footage clients.

Valcom intends to purchase Faith TV to be re-launched and positioned as a family television network. The agreement is set to close September 30th. The purchase of the network will add additional revenue to Valcom which will integrate their existing studios, expertise in production, a film and TV library and other assets toward plans to double and then triple the network's size in the next 1-2 years.

The Ekioh UI Engine utilises the Scalable Vector Graphics open standard from the W3C, to provide a fast, flexible and customisable user experience. The nationwide Freewire service available to students across the UK has so far largely concentrated on offering its IPTV service via a PC or Mac client. The service is also now available on STBs using Industria's Zignal 2.0 middleware and the Ekioh UI Engine. It is now in operation at four university campuses across the UK. As Inuk expands its Freewire student IPTV service off-campus over the Cable & Wireless national LLU network, this Ekioh solution will be provided as an integral element of the STB solution for every customer on the platform.

West Kentucky Rural Telephone Cooperative has selected Aware’s Dr. DSL Line Diagnostics Platform as its IPTV and DSL line testing solution. The Dr. DSL Line Diagnostics Platform is an advanced test and diagnostics server-based solution that, when used in conjunction with West Kentucky’s installed access equipment, offers a comprehensive, centralized system for analysis and diagnostics of the carrier’s DSL lines.

The HomePNA Alliance announces that more leading North American telcos are deploying its technology and that HomePNA was installed in more North American homes in the last quarter than any other coax home networking solution. In addition, HomePNA announced that TELUS, the $9 billion Canadian telecommunications company, has chosen the HomePNA 3.1 technology for its TELUS TV service offering.

KIT digital has completed a stock purchase agreement to acquire Melbourne, Australia-based Morpheum, one of Asia's leading providers of web-based content management systems. Morpheum's award-winning software, LanternCMS, will become a key part of KIT digital's device-agnostic IPTV platform.

Morpheum generated approximately US$2.4 million in revenues and approximately US$100,000 in EBITDA in the trailing 12 months through June 30, 2008. Management estimates that, after the immediate realization of synergies, the acquisition will contribute in excess of US$1.0 million in revenues and US$300,000 in EBITDA to the Company's overall results in the last 4 months of 2008.

Motorola and Deutsche Telekom collaborate to deliver IPTV in Germany and Deutsche Telekom will use Motorola's HD-ready IPTV set-tops for its "T-Home Entertain" services. The collaboration will enable T-Home customers to access a variety of multimedia applications in addition to standard TV offerings using a high-quality, optimized Motorola set-top which is already equipped for future services.

TELUS has selected CopperGate's HomePNA 3.1 technology integrated into set-top boxes and residential gateways for its TELUS TV service offering. CopperGate's chipsets provide a complete HomePNA 3.1 home networking solution that operates over both coax cables and phone wires. CopperGate chipsets are the first to comply with the ITU G.9954 (HomePNA 3.1) home networking standard and feature guaranteed parameter-based service levels and powerful remote management and diagnostics capabilities. HomePNA 3.1 technology is being deployed today by AT&T and other major telecommunication companies worldwide.

UTStarcom announced a contract with Aksh Optifibre to deploy UTStarcom's end-to-end RollingStream IPTV solution in 20 cities on Bharat Sanchar Nigam's ADSL 2+ network, a UTStarcom-built multiplay infrastructure that currently supports more than 75 percent of the active wirelines in India.

The IPTV offering which will be made available to more than 250,000 BSNL broadband subscribers in 20 cities throughout India with Aksh's iControl service, gives both large cities and small towns the opportunity to experience interactive entertainment such as time-shifting, VOD, interactive gaming, live television voting and distance learning programs.
