A full-blown high definition TV studio to perform complete cycle of production, transmitting and delivery of TV content will be functioning at EEBC Telecom&Broadcasting.

A mini soccer field just inside the exhibition pavilion will be constructed and the games between kids teams will be held for ЕEBC-2008 prize. Live broadcasting of these games will be realized with HD TV system. Video signal will be transmitted to HD plasma panels at the exhibitors’ booths and to mobile devices. Leading cameramen, broadcasting directors, sound control supervisors and sportscasters are invited to participate in the project.

Widespread deployment of IPTV services is currently hampered by a lack of interoperability among products. The Open IPTV Forum, the pan-industry initiative that was established to produce an end-to-end solution, is now fulfilling that promise. The Forum is pleased to announce that a number of detailed system and protocol specifications for Release 1 have been finalized at its meeting in Berlin, Sep 8 - 11.

Those specifications will allow the industry to deploy IPTV networks and devices that inter-operate, while offering an evolution path for the future. Such networks and devices will allow the industry to deliver IPTV services that are easy to use as well as attractive to the end user.

Harmonic will demonstrate an innovative and versatile new solution for delivery of video content over the Internet to a variety of devices, including television sets, PCs, personal media players and mobile devices. This end-to-end demonstration includes technologies from Harmonic, Advanced Digital Broadcast, Amino, PeerTV and Stream Group, and encompasses encoding, transcoding, streaming, middleware and client devices including the Nokia N95 mobile phone.

Concurrent will feature live demonstrations of its BEYONDEMAND solutions at IBC 2008, including time-shifted television technology, the MediaHawk Content Delivery System and Everstream interactive data collection and reporting software. Concurrent’s Myriad Advanced Advertising Solution will also be featured in the booth display.

Concurrent recently announced a deal with ZON TV Cabo to supply the on-demand solution for the Portuguese operator’s video-on-demand expansion. The NFL has selected Adobe Flash technology to deliver live online video streaming of NBC Sunday Night Football games on NFL.com and NBCSports.com. For the first time, full-length NFL games will be widely available in the U.S. over the Internet. Named Sunday Night Football Extra, the high-quality streaming video delivered with Adobe Flash technology will enable fans to watch the games free within a rich, immersive environment that will include interactive extras such as alternative camera angles, picture-in-picture technology, in-game highlights, live statistics, and interactivity with network talent via a live blog.

Entone will unveil its multi-stream Janus IP Video Gateway at the IBC show in Amsterdam next week. Derived from Entone's market-leading Hydra IP Video Gateway platform, Janus supports simultaneous decoding of multiple video streams, both in HD and SD. The Janus gateway is typically connected to a primary television set via a wide variety of cabling options, such as HDMI or SCART, and distributes video to other television sets in the home over a flexible variety of in-home networking options including coax, Ethernet, phone lines, power line, and wireless (802.11n).

Collapsing the barrier between the Internet and HDTV, ZvBox is a new consumer electronics product designed to allow the end user access to any Internet TV, online video, music or computer content from all HDTVs in the home. ZvBox simplifies whole-home AV distribution by "localcasting" stored local media from hard drives or network-attached storage devices to any and all HDTVs on the premises. Since it leverages the home's existing coaxial cable wiring, it requires no additional set-top boxes, Ethernet cables or wireless transport, which can be subject to interference and performance degradation problems. Nearly one-fifth of American households who use the internet watch television broadcasts online, double the viewership from 2006, The Conference Board and TNS report.
