Verimatrix announced that its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System for IPTV has been deployed on the Post and Telecommunications of Kosovo J.S.C. network. As the global number one in IPTV content protection, VCAS for IPTV enables the secure delivery of live, on-demand and interactive video services, as well as offering a solid upgrade platform that PTK can use to cost-effectively enhance its competitive advantage.

The Verimatrix security solution was integrated with an end-to-end IPTV platform developed in partnership with BeeSmart, the acknowledged interactive TV solution provider for service operators and hospitality market, which provided the IPTV middleware solution, and Harmonic's leading head-end solutions. This marks the eighth IPTV project Verimatrix has implemented together with BeeSmart.

Canal+ Overseas has begun a migration to Thomson Video technology for its digital headend serving Indian Ocean territories. The newly equipped platform, located in Boulogne, France, near Paris, will be rolled out by November 2011, transmitting 90 SD and HD channels, all encoded in MPEG-4 format.

Canal+ Overseas is replacing its existing infrastructure with a combination of Thomson Video Networks products, including ViBE EM2002 dual-channel SD encoders, ViBE EM3000 HD encoders, and NetProcessor 9030 multiplexers. In 2012, Canal+ will upgrade to Thomson's new ViBE EM4000 multichannel HD encoder.

Espial announces they’ve been selected to provide an IPTV solution for Vodafone Iceland. As part of the IPTV solution, Espial is providing the following products: the Evo TV Service Platform, the Evo STB Client and the Espial MediaBase VOD platform. The Espial solution will power Vodafone Iceland’s IPTV service which provides broadcast TV, TV on-demand, Catch-up TV and video-on-demand to over 25,000 customers. Vodafone Iceland offers mobile, fixed-line, and ADSL/ IPTV services to both consumers and companies.

SmartLabs started to deploy the large-scale unified IPTV platform for Rostelecom service subscribers in all Russian Federation regions.

Within the project, all separate IPTV platforms currently run in the regions will be replaced with the unified IPTV platform based on a bunch of SmartLabs products offering a unified set of services and enabled with a state-of-the-art, fast, animated and nice-looking user interface.

During the preceding six months, the telecom operator had been conducting a tender to select a unified IPTV platform provider. The largest global and Russian IPTV solution developers and integrators took part in the tender.

MTG has prolonged its exclusive live broadcasting rights to UEFA Champions League football in Sweden, Norway and Denmark, until the end of the 2014/2015 championship in the Spring of 2015. The rights include, but are not limited to, broadcast coverage on free-TV, pay-TV, mobile devices and the Internet.

MTG will broadcast all of the Champions League matches on its free-TV and pay-TV channels in Scandinavia, and will also make them available on its multi-screen internet-based video streaming service Viaplay, which offers live coverage of premium sports events to personal computers, tablets, smart phones and internet-connected TV’s. MTG already holds the exclusive broadcasting rights to the UEFA Champions League until the end of the 2011/2012 season and has broadcast coverage of the championship since 1993.

Georgia's largest internet service provider which controls almost 60% of the national internet communications market is now using Teracue ENC-200 H264 streaming IPTV encoders.

The video and audio encoders are being used within Caucasus Online's IPTV project in order to obtain SDI signals from local TV stations and to ingest and stream them live on the ISPs FTTB network. The H264 encoders are used for TV contribution, making the broadcast stations available on the IPTV system and to its viewers.

14 H264 encoders in single frame enclosures are installed within every single TV station which are distributed throughout the capital city of Tbilisi.

BT has selected the Motive ServiceView Solution Suite to support its high-speed Internet, IPTV and VoIP services. Motive is a leading provider of customer experience management software for broadband and mobile data services, and BT already uses Motive tools to improve its service. However, this is the first deployment of the ServiceView Solution Suite in the UK.

ServiceView will deliver a unified triple-play customer care toolset for BT’s help desk representatives. Using ServiceView, call center representatives have end-to-end visibility and control of broadband services, with automated problem analysis and resolution for BT’s network. Espial announces that RomTelecom has now surpassed 35,000 IPTV subscribers with access to on-demand TV services powered by Espial MediaBase. These include timeshift-TV and video-on-demand services. RomTelecom is the incumbent telecom provider in Romania with more than 2,7 million landlines.

Bundled services provision has become one of the most successful ways to prevent customers from churning in telecoms world in Central and Eastern Europe. One of their main components is often IPTV. Although the IPTV market is in the early stage of development, changes in media consumption are likely to ensure the market stable growth.

New study from Frost & Sullivan entitled: "Analysis of the IPTV Markets in Central and Eastern Europe", finds that the market earned revenues of €90 million in 2010 and estimates this to reach €270 million in 2017.

SeaChange announces details of its role in TTNET’s nationwide IPTV service, Tivibu Ev, part of its multi-screen video service that is currently available in 30 cities across Turkey. As the systems integrator and a primary technology provider for Tivibu Ev, SeaChange assembled a multinational team of engineers, project managers and technology partners to build one of the world’s newest and most advanced television services.

Tivibu Ev consists of more than 100 linear multicast channels of standard- and high-definition television; 3,100-plus hours of standard- and high-definition VOD content; start-over TV functionality; and up to 90 minutes of pause time for live TV. Commercially launched on Feb. 23, 2011, Tivibu Ev is marketed and sold by TTNET, a Turk Telekom company and operator of television, broadband and mobile communication services throughout Turkey.

Good Mind Industries has selected the ANT Galio HbbTV Platform for its new range of STBs. Working closely with leading German distributor COMAG, the product line is to be targeted at the HbbTV retail market and will offer viewers a wealth of on-demand services. These will include catch-up programming from ARD and ZDF, digital text from ARD, VoD from Tageschau and radio applications from Baverische RunFunk.
